Former U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Thursday that he will not participate in a third debate with Vice President Kamala Harris.
This announcement comes after their recent debate earlier this week, which was the second face-off between the two. Trump referred to the first debate in June with President Joe Biden and marked the latest as his second debate with Harris.
In a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump made his stance clear, stating in all capital letters, “THERE WILL BE NO THIRD DEBATE!” The declaration follows a challenge from Harris’ campaign, which called for an additional debate immediately after their recent encounter.
Despite the challenge, Trump reiterated his refusal during an interview on “Fox & Friends,” where he mentioned that he would “probably” not agree to another debate, citing his previous success as a reason. By Thursday, he had firmly decided against it, making his position official.
Trump claimed that his decision was influenced by what he described as a clear victory over Harris in their recent debate, which many viewers saw as favoring the Vice President.
Trump likened the situation to a boxing match, saying, “When a prizefighter loses a fight, the first words out of his mouth are, ‘I WANT A REMATCH,’” implying that Harris’ request for another debate stemmed from her perceived loss.
