US Election: Trump to Hold First Outdoor Rally Since Assassination Attempt

Donald Trump, the former U.S. President and current Republican candidate for the 2024 presidential race, is set to hold his first outdoor rally since surviving an assassination attempt. The event will take place on Wednesday at the North Carolina Aviation Museum & Hall of Fame in Asheboro, North Carolina. This will be Trump’s first open-air campaign appearance since the shocking attack that left him injured one month ago.

Security measures for the event are being heightened, following the incident that occurred at a previous outdoor rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. During that rally, a gunman fired a shot at Trump from a rooftop, resulting in an injury to his ear. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) confirmed that Trump had been struck by a bullet or a fragment from the attacker’s rifle. The attack also claimed the life of one attendee in the crowd.

Following the attack, the Secret Service had recommended that Trump avoid outdoor events for his own safety. Despite these concerns, Trump has expressed a desire to return to outdoor rallies, which have been a hallmark of his campaign style since his first presidential run. He made it clear to his supporters that he intends to continue holding these events, stating at an indoor rally in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, “we’re not giving up the outdoor rallies.”

Trump also took to social media to confirm his decision, saying, “The Secret Service has agreed to substantially step up their operation. They are very capable of doing so.” However, the Secret Service has not publicly commented on these enhanced security measures.

Reports from U.S. media indicate that security for the upcoming rally in North Carolina will include bulletproof glass surrounding the podium where Trump is scheduled to speak. This glass, which is designed to protect him from potential attacks, is similar to the material used in the presidential limousine. This is part of the increased security precautions aimed at ensuring the safety of both Trump and the thousands of attendees expected to attend the rally.
