Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who is currently suspended from representing Kogi Central, has explained the reasons behind her much-talked-about arrival by helicopter to her constituency.
Speaking on the Politics Today program aired on Channels Television and hosted by Seun Akinbaloye, the senator said the decision to use a helicopter was suggested by her husband due to road restrictions.
Her return to the area was marked by a large crowd of enthusiastic supporters who gathered in Ihima, located in Okehi Local Government Area of Kogi State. This happened despite a ban by the state government on political rallies and convoys, which they claimed was necessary due to rising security concerns.
In her address to the supporters, Natasha declared: “This is my home, this is my town. Nobody can stop me from coming home. I am the daughter of the late Dr. Abdul Akpoti.”
When questioned about the decision to fly into the town, she explained that road access to her house had been blocked, which left limited options for travel. “It was my husband’s idea. You know they blocked all the roads leading to my house, so my husband suggested we fly in with a helicopter,” she said.
She also noted that the restrictions appeared to be aimed directly at her, given the timing and nature of the government’s actions. “But you know, I broke no law,” she said.
Natasha defended her right to visit her hometown and meet with her people, adding, “I own the place where people gathered. I built the road that leads to my house. So, I broke no law.”
