The attack reportedly occurred in broad daylight when most of the male residents were at work. The bandits broke windows of houses and damaged several cars, causing panic within the community.

According to an anonymous resident who spoke with PUNCH, the incident followed a report made by some of the estate’s occupants to a nearby police station regarding the destructive activities of illegal miners in the area.

The resident said, “Hoodlums we suspect are miners in the neighbourhood have asked all the residents of MI Wushishi Housing Estate in Minna, the Niger State Capital to vacate their homes or get killed.”

He added, “These guys invaded the community in broad light, breaking window glasses. Several cars were also damaged.”
