Vehicle Plunges from Otedola Bridge, Driver Rescued

A vehicle plunged off the Otedola Bridge on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in the early hours of Monday, 7th April 2025. The incident sent shockwaves through commuters and pedestrians who were left stunned by the dramatic event.

The vehicle, a private car, reportedly had four people inside when the accident occurred. Initial reports from the scene suggest that all the occupants of the car suffered injuries, although the extent of their wounds remains unclear. Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene to assist the victims, and the driver, who appeared to be in the most critical condition, was swiftly rescued.

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) was quick to confirm the incident in a post on X (formerly known as Twitter). They shared that the driver had been successfully rescued and transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. The post did not specify the exact condition of the other occupants or the cause of the crash. However, it noted the driver’s rescue and immediate transfer to medical care.

“Report of an accident of a car that fell from Otedola Bridge. The driver has been rescued and taken to the nearby hospital,” said LASTMA in their official statement.
