Victor Osimhen Surpasses Odegbami in Super Eagles’ Goal Scoring Chart

Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has moved past football legend Segun Odegbami on Nigeria’s all-time goal-scoring list. Osimhen netted his 24th international goal during Nigeria’s crucial 2026 World Cup qualifier against Rwanda on Friday.

The talented forward, who plays for Galatasaray, made the most of a well-delivered free kick from teammate Ademola Lookman, finishing expertly at the back post to put Nigeria in the lead. With this goal, Osimhen now holds the second-highest number of goals for the Super Eagles and is closing in on the long-standing record of 37 goals set by the late Rashidi Yekini.

This milestone comes in just his 39th appearance for the national team. Osimhen had previously equaled Odegbami’s record of 23 goals in November 2024 when Nigeria played to a 1-1 draw against Benin Republic during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers. Now, he has officially surpassed the legendary winger.

The 26-year-old has been in outstanding form this season. In the Turkish Super Lig, he has scored 20 goals and registered four assists in just 20 matches for Galatasaray, who currently lead the league standings. Across all competitions, he has netted 26 times and provided five assists in 30 appearances, making him one of the most in-form strikers in Europe.
