A recent video capturing a moment between President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu at a public event in Lagos has stirred reactions, as it appears to confirm earlier reports of a strained relationship between the two leaders.
In the widely circulated footage, President Tinubu is seen warmly greeting a line of dignitaries. However, when he reaches Governor Sanwo-Olu, he pointedly moves past him without extending a handshake, a gesture many have interpreted as a public snub.
The video has gone viral across social media platforms, sparking debate and lending credibility to the exclusive report published by Empowered Newswire, which detailed the deteriorating relationship between the President and the Lagos Governor.

According to EMPOWERED NEWSWIRE report, several sources of tension between Tinubu and Sanwo-Olu, including the Governor’s alleged ties to Aisha Sulaiman-Achimugu, a businesswoman recently declared wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for alleged money laundering.
Tinubu was reportedly displeased with the perception that Sanwo-Olu was being influenced by Achimugu, whose controversial presence at a lavish birthday party abroad attracted national attention.
Additional political friction was cited, stemming from the outcome of the 2023 presidential election in Lagos, where Tinubu lost to Labour Party’s Peter Obi, despite Sanwo-Olu’s comfortable victory in the subsequent gubernatorial race.
Political insiders suggested that Tinubu was unconvinced of Sanwo-Olu’s commitment to his campaign, leading to distrust at the highest levels of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The report also referenced internal conflicts within Lagos politics, notably Sanwo-Olu’s standoff with Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa. Tinubu’s known support for Obasa reportedly heightened the divide, with speculation that the President at one point demanded the Governor’s resignation.
