A video making rounds on social media captures a surprising moment during Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu’s visit to Delta State. The footage shows students of the Delta State School of Nursing openly rejecting the title of “our mother” when it was used to introduce her at an event.
The First Lady was in Delta as part of her Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), a program aimed at improving the lives of Nigerians, particularly in the health sector. During her visit, Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, noted that Nigeria was experiencing positive changes in healthcare. He also commended Tinubu’s commitment to improving the well-being of ordinary citizens through her initiative, which was launched in 2023.
As part of the event, professional kits were presented to the wives of South-South governors, who act as RHI coordinators in their respective states. The First Lady also held discussions with traditional rulers at the Traditional Rulers’ Council Chambers, where she met with notable figures, including the Orodje of Okpe, retired Major General Felix Mujak Peruo.
However, a particular moment from the gathering has become the main topic of conversation online. In the viral video, the event’s Master of Ceremony introduced Oluremi Tinubu as “everyone’s mother,” a title often given to First Ladies in Nigeria. However, the students in attendance immediately objected, making it clear that they did not accept the description.
