Viral Video: Pastor Adefarasin Turns Himself to Police

Senior Pastor of House on the Rock Church, Paul Adefarasin, has visited the Lagos State Police Command after a video surfaced online allegedly showing him holding an object that looked like a firearm. The footage, which was widely shared on social media, caused a stir and led to calls for clarification from the public.

The Lagos State Police Command confirmed the development in a WhatsApp message shared with reporters by its spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin. According to Hundeyin, Pastor Adefarasin arrived at the police headquarters in Ikeja where he is currently being questioned by investigators.

The video, which began making rounds on the internet last week, appeared to show the pastor interacting with someone believed to be a content creator or passerby. In the footage, the pastor is seen holding a shiny, metallic object during the exchange. Many viewers quickly assumed the item was a firearm, prompting heated discussions online and mixed reactions from the public.

In a post shared on his official social media pages over the weekend, Pastor Adefarasin addressed the issue. He noted that the situation was being misunderstood and clarified that the item in question was not a gun. “I did not point it at anyone,” he wrote, denying the widespread assumptions.

CSP Hundeyin, in his statement, noted that an official investigation has already begun. “No one is above the law! Pastor Paul Adefarasin has turned himself in at the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters, Ikeja, and is currently being interrogated by detectives,” he stated.

He added that the probe was prompted by the viral video, which showed the pastor appearing to hold a gun-like object during a roadside encounter, all while inside an unregistered vehicle.

“The outcome of the investigation will be made public,” Hundeyin also noted.
