The political tension between former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai and Daniel Bwala, the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communications, continues to grow. The disagreement revolves around El-Rufai’s stance on the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the current administration.
Bwala, who recently joined the APC, expressed both his admiration for El-Rufai’s intelligence and his concerns over the former governor’s recent statements. He advised El-Rufai to return to the party rather than act based on personal grievances.
In a post on his X handle on Thursday, Bwala wrote, “Still my senior brother @elrufai, I am sure you don’t need anyone to tell you about my respect and admiration for you, not just for your brilliance, but also as one of the brightest we have from the northern extraction. I am not stating it for the first time today, and you know that.”
However, Bwala noted that El-Rufai’s recent comments seem driven more by a desire for revenge than by patriotism. He warned that opposition groups see this as an opportunity to use El-Rufai for their own political gain.
He also reminded El-Rufai of their shared history in the APC, explaining that while El-Rufai came from the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) faction of the party, he himself came from the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN). Bwala said he had always worked to protect the interests of President Tinubu, even when others in El-Rufai’s camp wanted to push Tinubu out of politics.
Bwala further urged El-Rufai to set aside any personal grievances and work within the party to resolve any issues he may have. He described the APC as the only political party in Nigeria with a strong and organized structure.
He concluded his message with an appeal, saying, “Please, senior, come home; you have toiled all nights.
