“We Are Ready” – INEC Confirms Preparedness for Edo State Governorship Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has assured the public of its preparedness for the upcoming Edo State governorship election, which is set to take place on September 21, 2024.

INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, made this declaration during a stakeholders’ meeting held in Benin City on Wednesday.

During the meeting, Professor Yakubu emphasized the importance of a peaceful election process, urging all political parties and candidates to play their part in maintaining order and ensuring a smooth electoral exercise.

He stressed that cooperation from all parties involved would be crucial to the success of the election.

Professor Yakubu provided an update on the preparations, stating that INEC had successfully completed 11 out of the 13 planned activities outlined in the election timetable.

“Let me reassure stakeholders that INEC is ready for the election. INEC has so far implemented 11 out of the 13 activities in the election timetable,” he said.

The remaining tasks, he noted, would be completed before the election day to ensure that everything is in place for the voters. He also highlighted the importance of transparency and fairness, promising that INEC would continue to work diligently to provide a credible election that reflects the will of the people of Edo State.

INEC has taken several steps to ensure a seamless voting process, including training of election officials, distribution of election materials, and setting up voting centers across the state.
