We Need More Blood – Benue Teaching Hospital Begs After Herdsmen Attack Leaves Many Injured

Benue State University Teaching Hospital in Makurdi is struggling to treat dozens of victims after a deadly attack believed to have been carried out by herdsmen in nearby villages. The hospital is now calling on the public to urgently donate blood to help save lives.

In the early hours of the day, unknown attackers struck the Mtsewnem and Akondutyough communities located in the North Bank area of Makurdi. Several residents lost their lives in the violence, while many others were left with serious injuries.

The exact number of casualties has not yet been confirmed, but local sources suggest the toll could rise as some victims remain in critical condition.

Most of the injured were rushed to Benue State University Teaching Hospital, the largest medical facility in the state. But the hospital’s limited resources have now been stretched to the limit, especially its blood supply.

Tsenzughul Moses, acting Head of Public Relations and Protocol Department at the hospital, issued a statement calling for urgent support from members of the public. According to him, many victims are undergoing emergency treatment and require blood transfusions.

“Following the recent tragic Fulani herdsmen attack early hours of today, many survivors have been rushed to Benue State University Teaching Hospital for treatment. These victims are in critical need of blood to survive.

“We are urgently calling on the public to donate blood and help save lives.

“Please proceed immediately to the Haematology Department, Blood Bank Unit at Benue State University Teaching Hospital to make your donation.

“Your contribution can make the difference between life and death. Thank you for your compassion and swift response,” the statement said.
