Veteran Nigerian actress Oluwabukola Ajoke, popularly known as Bukky Wright, has shared insights into her life away from Nigeria and her surprising shift in career during her time in the United States.
In an interview with Saturday Beats, the beloved actress opened up about her decision to transition from the entertainment industry to a tech-focused career. She noted that the move was unexpected for many of her fans and colleagues.
Bukky stated, “I will be practising it (tech) simultaneously with entertainment. The fact that I had to deviate totally from entertainment to tech was something many people thought I would not be able to do. I would tell all my mentees that if I can do it, they can do it too.”
During her years abroad, Bukky admitted to missing certain aspects of her Nigerian heritage, especially the food and camaraderie in Nollywood. She fondly recalled her love for the traditional Nigerian delicacy amala and expressed a desire to work with Nollywood actors again.
“What I would love to eat again would be proper Naija amala. What I would like to do again would be to act with Nollywood actors,” she said.
Fans of the actress can rejoice, as she also revealed her plans to return to the Nigerian film industry with several exciting projects in the pipeline. One of the major works she mentioned is the anticipated project, The Return of Omotara Johnson.
She assured her followers that there is much more to look forward to, adding, “I have a lot for fans, including my project—‘The Return of Omotara Johnson’, which is coming and a whole lot of other things. I am back to stay.”
When asked about her secret to maintaining her youthful appearance, Bukky simply noted, “I don’t joke with my beauty sleep.”
