Why I’ll Never Support Peter Obi Again – Comedian Seyi Law

Nigerian comedian, Seyi Law, has announced that he will never support Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 elections, in any future political race.

In a recent appearance on the Teju Babyface show, Seyi Law, who previously endorsed President Bola Tinubu during the last election, shared the reason behind his decision.

According to him, his stance is rooted in the behaviour of Obi’s supporters, also known as the “Obidient movement.” Seyi Law accused members of this group of insulting his family, including his wife and children, which he finds unacceptable.

“The moment you cross that boundary from me to my children, mother, and wife, there is no forgiveness. That is why there is nothing on earth that Peter Obi can do that will make me support him,” Seyi Law stated.

The comedian further likened Obi’s supporters to a “cult,” claiming they do not tolerate independent thinking and have created an atmosphere of hostility. He particularly pointed out that the attacks on his family were something he could never forget or forgive, especially since Obi has not taken any action to condemn the behaviour of his supporters.

“They attacked my children and my wife. As long as Peter Obi does not call them to order and he keeps denying that they are doing that, he will never get my support. Let Peter Obi wear the garment of Jesus Christ today, he will never get my support,” he added.

Seyi Law did not stop at pointing fingers at Obi’s supporters. He also commented on the overall political discourse among some of them, saying, “Hate or love me, my personal way of life is between me and God. Any organisation that does not support free thinking is a cult.”

Despite his strong feelings about the attacks on his family, Seyi Law noted that he usually does not hold on to personal anger for long. However, he emphasized that when it comes to the well-being of his loved ones, the hurt stays much longer.

“One of the good things that God has done for me is that my anger does not last long. Personal anger for me does not last long. The only place it lasts long is when you leave me and attack my children, mother, and wife,” Seyi Law said.
