Why Ologunagba Was Suspended — PDP Factional Spokesman

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) is facing internal tension as a faction led by Acting National Publicity Secretary, Ibrahim Abdullahi, confirmed the suspension of the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba. The suspension is reportedly linked to Ologunagba’s handling of the Rivers State Local Government elections crisis.

At a press briefing held in Abuja on Friday, Abdullahi explained that Ologunagba was suspended for alleged anti-party activities. According to Abdullahi, the decision stemmed from Ologunagba’s release of a controversial statement regarding the Rivers State elections. The statement, which was issued shortly before the local government polls, called on residents to participate in the election process.

“Ologunagba was suspended for an alleged anti-party because he issued a press statement on Rivers Local Government elections,” Abdullahi said during the conference.

The controversy surrounds Ologunagba’s statement where he insisted that the elections should proceed as planned, stating that no court had the right to stop the electoral process. His statement was seen by some members of the party as going against the position of a section of the party that had reservations about the conduct of the elections.
