Wike Approves N1.1 Billion Compensation for structures Affected By Construction Of Highway

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has announced the approval of N1.1 billion as compensation for individuals and businesses affected by the ongoing construction of Highway 105, linking the Airport Expressway to Kuje township. This was disclosed on Tuesday during an on-site inspection of the road project to assess the affected structures.

Speaking to journalists after the inspection, Wike emphasized the importance of ensuring fairness and timely progress for the project. He explained that a detailed valuation of the impacted properties had been completed, and he personally visited the site to understand the extent of damage before approving the compensation.

“I have come here to see for myself the report on the valuation of what was supposed to be paid as compensation,” Wike stated. “When I got the file for approval, I said it would be proper for me to go and see for myself the kind of structures that we are going to pay for.”

He further assured that the compensation funds would be released promptly to prevent any delays in the construction work. The approved amount, estimated at N1.1 billion, will cover damages to various structures in the affected communities.

In addition to the highway project, Wike inspected the ongoing construction of the Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal Complex in Dakibiyu, Jabi District. The minister expressed satisfaction with the progress, noting that the project, along with its access road, is on track for completion by September next year.

“I’m very impressed with what we saw this afternoon. It’s progressing as expected. By the grace of God, we believe by September next year, the contractor would have handed over the structure,” Wike said.
