Wolves Beat Struggling Manchester United 2-0 on Boxing Day

Manchester United’s struggles under new manager Ruben Amorim deepened on Boxing Day as Wolverhampton Wanderers claimed a commanding 2-0 victory at the Molineux Stadium.

Wolves, energized under new coach Vitor Pereira, capitalized on United’s poor form to secure their second consecutive Premier League win, lifting them out of the relegation zone.

The match began with Manchester United showcasing little in attack. Despite a few early efforts, the Red Devils appeared disjointed.

Wolves took control with Matheus Cunha delivering a stunning goal directly from a corner, a blow that highlighted United’s ongoing struggles with set-pieces. This marked the fifth Premier League game in a row where United conceded from a dead-ball situation.

United’s uphill battle intensified in the second half when captain Bruno Fernandes was sent off for a reckless foul on Nelson Semedo. The Portuguese playmaker, already on a yellow card, left his team with 10 men for nearly the entire half. This dismissal marked his third red card this season, a worrying statistic for the team.

Wolves capitalized on their numerical advantage. In the final minutes, Cunha assisted Hwang Hee-chan, who scored with ease to seal the victory.

The loss drops Manchester United to 14th in the league, with just two wins in seven matches since Amorim’s arrival. Wolves, meanwhile, climb out of the relegation zone.
