The Lagos State Police have arrested a 21-year-old woman, Precious Anegbode, after she allegedly stabbed her boyfriend, Damilola, to death during a violent quarrel at his home in the Ijegun area of Lagos.
According to local sources, Anegbode had visited Damilola on Friday, May 2, when a disagreement between the two quickly escalated into a deadly altercation. Residents of the area reported hearing loud arguments from the apartment before the situation took a tragic turn.
One eyewitness, who asked not to be named, explained that everything seemed normal until raised voices caught their attention.
“We don’t know what led to the quarrel between both of them. We only heard them shouting and the next thing we heard the lady was wailing. When we got to their room, we saw the lifeless body of her boyfriend on the floor,” the resident said.
Another resident added that neighbours tried to help by rushing the injured man to a hospital nearby. Unfortunately, medical staff at Igando General Hospital confirmed that he was already dead when he arrived.
“Some of the neighbours took the corpse to the hospital while others prevented the lady from running away. When they got to the hospital, the doctors on duty confirmed him dead,” the resident said. “Then we later went to the police station to report the incident, and returned with some officers who came to take the lady away.”
Police spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the report, noting that officers were alerted to the incident around 11:30 a.m. that day. He said Damilola’s body was taken to the Igando General Hospital mortuary after he was declared dead. Anegbode was arrested and detained at the Igando Police Division.
Further police investigation revealed that the case fell under the jurisdiction of another police division, and it was therefore handed over to Isheri Oshun Division. Hundeyin noted that both the patrol team and the Divisional Crime Branch responded to the scene of the crime and documented key evidence.
“Photographs were taken, and the scene of the incident was visited. The knife used in the stabbing was recovered, and blood stains at the scene were documented,” Hundeyin stated.
He also noted that the suspect gave a confession during police questioning. The case, along with all evidence, is now being prepared for transfer to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Panti, Yaba, where a more detailed investigation will take place.
