Former senator and vocal critic Dino Melaye has shared his reaction to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court’s ruling on the money laundering case involving ex-Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello.
Melaye, known for his strong opposition to Bello during his tenure as governor, expressed satisfaction with the court’s decision.
On Tuesday, the FCT High Court ordered that Yahaya Bello be remanded in Kuje Correctional Centre while awaiting a decision on his bail application.
The case, which centers around an alleged N110 billion money laundering offense, was brought against Bello by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Justice Maryann Anenih, who presided over the hearing, adjourned the matter to January 29 and 30, as well as February 25 and 27, for further proceedings.
Following the court’s decision, Melaye took to his official X (formerly Twitter) account to express his thoughts. He claimed he had predicted Bello’s legal troubles years earlier. In his post, Melaye stated: “6 years ago, SDM predicted Yahaya Bello would end up in prison. Today, he will be spending Christmas in Kuje prison. All powers belong to God.”
