Police Probe Mysterious Death of Crossdresser in Abuja

Authorities in Abuja have launched an investigation into the mysterious death of a crossdresser whose body was discovered on the Katampe-Mabushi expressway early yesterday morning.

The deceased, who has yet to be identified, was found lying motionless by the side of the road, dressed in female clothing. The discovery was made by a passerby who promptly alerted the police through a distress call to the Command Control Room at approximately 7:40 a.m.

Josephine Adeh, the Public Relations Officer for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police, confirmed the incident. According to her, initial investigations revealed that the deceased was a man, though he was dressed in female attire.

Adeh noted that no form of identification was found on the deceased, making it difficult for the authorities to determine his identity immediately.

She said: “In response to a distress call received by the Command Control Room on 08/08/2024 about 07:40a.m., that an unidentified lady was seen lying motionless along Katampe – Mabushi expressway, a team of detectives was immediately dispatched to the scene.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that the individual was a man fully dressed in female clothing with no means of identification on him,” she said.

The body was subsequently transported to Maitama District Hospital, where medical professionals officially confirmed the death. The cause of death, however, remains unknown at this stage.

“The FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Benneth Igweh, has ordered a thorough and discreet investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death,” the police spokesperson added.
