Again, Wike Denies Abuja Land Allocation to Son

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has once again denied claims that any plot of land in Abuja has been allocated to his children.

His media aide, Lere Olayinka, who serves as the Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, addressed the matter in a statement on Tuesday.

Olayinka noted that the new allegations are part of a deliberate attempt to smear Wike’s name and stop his work in the FCT.

According to him, those behind the story are repeating the same pattern of misinformation that failed in the past.

He pointed out that similar false claims were made the previous week, alleging Wike had given out over 2,000 hectares in Maitama and Asokoro to one of his sons—despite the fact that such land does not even exist in those areas.

Olayinka clarified that the only land mentioned in the documents belongs to JOAQ Farms, which was assigned farmland in Bwari Area Council. He added that this information had been twisted to push a false story.

The latest claim now ties another company—Jordan Farms and Estates Limited—to Wike’s family. Olayinka responded by saying there is no link between the company and any of the Minister’s children.

He stated clearly that the company is a registered business in Nigeria and none of Wike’s sons or daughters are listed as directors.

“That one of the sons of the FCT Minister is Jordan and there is a company, Jordan Farms and Estates Limited is no reason anyone should conclude that the company belongs to Wike’s son,” Olayinka said.

He further noted that jumping to conclusions based on names is misleading. As an example, he mentioned his own name: “For instance, my name is Lere Olayinka, and there is Lere Local Government in Kaduna State. Do I own the Local Government?”

He added that various businesses bear the name “Jordan,” both in Nigeria and abroad, without any connection to Wike or his family. “In the United Kingdom, there is Jordan’s Farms. Is the company also owned by Wike’s son?” he asked.

On the issue of a document showing a security aide’s signature, Olayinka explained that helping someone process documents does not mean they own the property.

“If I choose to assist my friend, associate or relative to collect property documents, does that confer ownership of the property on me?” he questioned.

Olayinka ended by saying that those trying to attack Wike due to his political views, especially his stance on power rotation between the North and South, will continue to fail.

“This is because, just like the one of last week, this one too has failed even before its commencement.”
