Dele Momodu Exposes Wike’s 2027 Ambitions, Links to Tinubu’s Possible Re-election Plans

Dele Momodu, a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and former presidential candidate, has shed light on the political ambitions of Nyesom Wike, a key figure in Nigerian politics and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Speaking during an interview on Politics Today, a program on Channels Television, Momodu revealed Wike’s strategic plans for the upcoming 2027 presidential election.

According to Momodu, Wike is orchestrating a calculated political move that could deeply impact both the PDP and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). Momodu claims that Wike and his allies are fueling internal crises within the PDP with a clear long-term goal in mind.

This, he says, is part of a broader strategy to position themselves for the next election cycle in 2027, should President Bola Tinubu decide not to run for a second term.

“They’re hoping that somewhere along the line, Tinubu will not run in 2027 and then they’ll hold PDP down and use it,” said Momodu during the interview.

He further explained that Wike’s faction is well aware that they are unlikely to gain the APC’s support for any potential presidential bid. Instead, they aim to keep control of the PDP, knowing they cannot easily secure the backing of another party, particularly the APC, which is unlikely to hand over its platform to outsiders.

Momodu added, “They know APC will never give them their platform. Nobody is going to allow you after destroying your own home to come and destroy their own. Everybody knows.”

Wike, despite serving as a minister under the APC administration, has consistently maintained his loyalty to the PDP. In earlier statements, he vowed to remain in the party, despite speculation that his current role within an APC-led government may indicate a shift in his political allegiance.
