INEC Denies Reports on Voter Registration Resumption

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has denied claims that it will restart the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) and the replacement of lost Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs) on May 27, 2025. The commission clarified that no such decision has been made.

Rotimi Oyekanmi, the Chief Press Secretary to the INEC Chairman, addressed the matter on Tuesday night. He stated that the reports circulating about the resumption of voter registration are false and urged the public to ignore them.

“The attention of the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC has been drawn to a misleading report making the rounds that we will resume the Continuous Voter Registration CVR and replacement of lost Permanent Voters’ Cards PVCs on 27th May 2025.

“The report is untrue. The Commission has not announced any resumption date for the CVR. We appeal to the public to disregard the false narrative,” he said.
