Missing Banker Found Dead in Lagos Morgue with Machete Wounds

Days after a Lagos banker, Osemudiamen Idemudia, was declared missing, his lifeless body was located in a morgue in the Yaba area of Lagos State. The 26-year-old, who worked in the Point-of-Sale unit of a commercial bank in the Ikota area, was last seen on May 9 around the CMS district of Lagos Island.

According to a family member named Segun, the search for Osemudiamen led the family through several hospitals and mortuaries across the state. On Sunday, May 18, they made a heartbreaking discovery at a morgue in Yaba — the banker’s corpse was lying there with severe injuries.

“We have found Osemudiamen’s body. He was murdered. We found the body on Sunday in a morgue at Yaba with machete cuts on his head, face, and legs. I’m so sad,” Segun said.

The family strongly believes Osemudiamen was killed. The deep machete wounds found on his body left no doubt in their minds about foul play. Segun also noted that morgue staff said the police brought in the body. However, when asked where the corpse was picked up from or which officers were involved, the attendants could not offer any specific information.

“The staff members of the morgue claimed that the body was brought in by the police but when we asked where they brought the body from, they could not provide an answer. They said they did not have details of the policemen who brought the corpse to their facility. That made the discovery more complicated,” Segun noted.

Osemudiamen’s remains were buried by his family on Tuesday.

His father, Julius Idemudia, shared that his son had left his workplace in Ikota alongside a colleague that Friday for a scheduled appointment with a senior staff member at their bank’s CMS branch. But shortly after they arrived at CMS, the meeting was canceled. The two then went their separate ways.

“As usual, Osemudiamen was expected to board a bus to Iyana Ipaja and from there, head to Igando. But when night came and we didn’t hear from him, we became very worried,” Julius said.

The family reported his disappearance to the Igando Police Station. Since then, they had been actively searching and hoping for good news until the devastating discovery was made.
