Sallah Tragedy: Bandits Kill One, Injure Two In Zamfara Mosque Attack

No fewer than one person has been confirmed dead and two others injured following a violent bandit attack on Muslim worshippers during Isha prayers in Dole Moriki village, located in the Moriki District of Zurmi Local Government Area in Zamfara State.

According to intelligence sources cited by counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama, the incident happened around 8:00 p.m. on Saturday. Armed bandits reportedly stormed the village and opened fire inside a local mosque where worshippers were gathered for the night prayer.

“One person was confirmed dead at the scene, while two others sustained varying degrees of injuries as the bandits shot sporadically during the prayer session,” a source said.

Security forces were quickly deployed to the area in an attempt to stop the attackers and bring peace back to the community.

The injured victims were immediately taken to the General Hospital in Moriki to receive medical care. Meanwhile, the body of the deceased was handed over to relatives for burial according to Islamic customs.
