Sanwo-Olu Presents Staff Of Office To New Orijeru of Igbooye Kingdom

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has formally recognized Oba Abdurasak Akanni Musa as the new Orijeru of Igbooye Kingdom in Eredo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Epe.

The ceremony took place on Friday at the Epe Local Government Secretariat, where the Staff of Office and Instrument of Appointment were handed over to the monarch by Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Kayode Robert, representing the governor.

Oba Abdurasak Akanni Musa, who holds a master’s degree from the University of Lagos, Akoka, was a professional town planner with expertise in urban development before ascending the throne. His educational and professional background is seen as an asset for fostering growth in the Igbooye Kingdom.

During the event, Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized the critical role of traditional rulers as partners in governance.

“On behalf of myself, the government, and the people of Lagos State, I congratulate Your Royal Majesty on ascending the revered stool of your ancestors,” the governor said. He also urged the monarch to unite traditional leaders in promoting peace and progress.

Eredo LCDA’s Executive Chairman, Ismail Monsuru Akinloye, represented by Vice Chairman Adesanya Lateef, lauded the king’s qualifications and expressed optimism about the kingdom’s future under his leadership. He encouraged the community to rally behind the new king, stating that cooperation is essential for achieving peace and prosperity in Igbooye and beyond.
