Galatasaray have been crowned the 2024/25 Turkish Super Lig champions after a 2-0 home victory over Kayserispor on Sunday evening at a packed Rams Park in Istanbul.
Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen was once again the standout performer as he got the breakthrough goal in the 27th minute. Rising highest in the box, Osimhen met Gabriel Sara’s corner kick with a powerful header that flew past the Kayserispor goalkeeper and sent the home crowd into a frenzy.
That goal was Osimhen’s 36th of the season across all competitions, showing just how important he has been for the Istanbul club since his arrival. The Super Eagles star has become a key figure in Galatasaray’s attack and proved it once again in this must-win match.
Just moments after the opener, Galatasaray struck again. Midfielder Lucas Torreira delivered a clever pass through the heart of the Kayserispor defense, and Barış Alper Yılmaz took full advantage, calmly slotting the ball into the bottom corner to double the lead in the 29th minute.
The early one-two punch stunned Kayserispor and effectively ended any hopes they had of spoiling Galatasaray’s title celebrations. The home side controlled possession and kept pressing, while their defense stayed organized and composed.
Veteran goalkeeper Fernando Muslera had little trouble throughout the match and ensured a clean sheet for manager Okan Buruk’s men.
Galatasaray later added a third goal to wrap up a 3-0 victory and seal the title in front of their home fans. The win puts them six points ahead of closest rivals Fenerbahce, with only two games left in the season.
Galatasaray now sits comfortably on top of the league table with 89 points from 34 matches, while Fenerbahce trail with 81 points.
